Computer Batteries: Varta Batteries

June 22, 2008 – 11:00 am

The Varta Company and its Varta batteries are supplied to many of the largest electronics companies around the globe. They design attractive and innovative batteries for many of the mobile devices that we use on a daily basis. Their line of slim batteries includes solutions for cell and cordless phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices.

What sets Varta apart from other battery manufacturers is that they design batteries for original equipment manufacturers (OEM). This means that if you were to buy a new laptop or cordless phone, you could see a Varta battery bundled with the device. Years down the line when it comes time to replace the battery, you either have the choice of going with another Varta or other OEM battery, or even for one made by a third party.

Are Varta Batteries Better Than No Name Batteries?
While the performance from OEM Varta batteries will be quite close to no name batteries, it can be the warranty that third party batteries offer that will sway customers into purchasing them. Many shops will offer a warranty on third party batteries, allowing a customer to deal directly with them should any problems arise with the product.

With OEM batteries, companies usually offer a much shorter warranty than what a store will offer on third party batteries. Also, it can be much more of a hassle having to deal with a massive company rather than a store. This can make it much more difficult to get a defective battery replaced, since you cannot simply take it back to the store and have it exchanged. For the ease of replacement alone, many consumers choose to use third party batteries rather than an OEM equivalent.
