Computer Batteries: Sony Notebook Batteries

June 20, 2008 – 12:07 pm

For many people, the name Sony is synonymous with television sets, VCRs, and home stereos. The Sony line is actually quite extensive, and features everything from portable audio devices to home theater speakers and even desktop and notebook computers. While its somewhat understandable why a consumer would be a little leery of purchasing a laptop from what they perceive to be a stereo manufacturer, Sony has actually created some very nice PCs.

One of my favorites in their line is the Sony PCG-TR2A Vaio. This is one of their super slim notebooks, and is actually less than two inches in height. The notebook has all of the necessary hardware to watch DVD movies, burn CDs, and even play some of the latest graphically intensive games. One feature unique to this laptop is an integrated webcam thats located right above the screen. This allows users to snap pictures of themselves or to stream video over the Internet.

Sony Notebook Batteries and Intels Centrino
Because this laptop weighs in at a little over three pounds, the portability of this notebook is made quite easy. As far as powering the notebook, the included AC adapter gives the user the ability to plug in the notebook to any available power outlet. A lithium ion battery is also included, which has a life of seven hours when fully charged.

Seven hours may seem like a very long time, and it is. In the past, batteries would sometimes affect performance when they started to get low on juice. With Intels Centrino line of notebooks, the technology involved can actually lengthen the amount of time a user can spend on the laptop without taking a hit in the performance of the computer.

The Centrinos technology works by predicting the movements and tasks that will be performed by the computer. This allows the processor to speed itself up or slow itself down depending on what will be done, resulting in a notebook that runs very efficiently, and actually works to cut corners and use less power whenever it can. This technology has really shaken up the laptop world; making notebooks that arent Centrino equipped seems obsolete and outdated.
